It has a stamp of approval called the “imprimatur”, meaning nothing is contrary to Catholic Doctrine. It was given permission to publish by the Most Reverend, Robert G. Casey, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

In Latin it means, “Let it be printed” and this basically means the document has been reviewed by a Church authority, usually a censor, and it has been found free from any theological errors and then it is approved by a bishop. Sometimes the “Nihil obstat” is stamped into the book as well. If the censor finds nothing in the book to prevent its publication, it is given the “nihil obstat” meaning “Nothing stands in the way”. This is given before further examination of the book by the censor to have the imprimatur issued.
